INTRODUCTION

The authors are members of the Rudge family, whose parents opened the first cafe, and then built the new cafe in the early 1960s. The text is based on their memories, and the pictures selected from their family photographs.

Care has been taken to ensure that the details given are correct (but memories from 50 or 60 years ago can become a little unclear), and could be based on things that were heard at the time, rather than directly experienced by the authors.

If anyone believes that some of the information on this website is wrong, please contact us using the ‘feedback’ page – we’ll be happy to correct any mis-information.

The aerial picture at the top of the page dates from around 1965, and shows the site of Necton Cafe a year or two after the new cafe opened. In the top left of the picture, the original garage and first cafe (after being extended) can be seen.
